BAGUIO CITY — Department of Justice Secretary Leila De Lima has recently issued a memorandum circular calling for the reorganization of the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) Secretariat.

De Lima, chairperson of IACAT, said Memorandum Circular No. 21 of 2012 seeks to establish the reorganization of IACAT to increase the effectiveness and coordination of its members, various agencies and non-government partners comprising the agency.

Four Filipina victims of human trafficking who were locked up and forced to work in a night club in Malaysia were rescued by Malaysian authorities this week as Manila and Kuala Lumpur continue to put an end to the illegal activity.

The victims, aged 27 to 36 and residents of Manila, were smuggled by a Filipino to Malaysia through Zamboanga, a notorious backdoor exit being used by trafficking syndicates.

A TOTAL of 43 overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were repatriated from Kuwait arrived yesterday at the NAIA Terminal 1 with different sad tales of their ordeal in the said country. 

They were met at the airport by a team from the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration(OWWA) led by its chief, Carmelita Dimzon, who said that all necessary assistance will beextended to the said OFWs.
