TWO female teenagers believed victims of human trafficking were rescued by the PhilippineCoast Guard from a Malaysia-bound ship in Tawi Tawi .
Coast Guard Station Bongao said Remelyn Ponce, 18, and her sister Roselyn, 16 were rescued onboard MV Trisha Kerstin-2.
Investigation showed the Ponces were promised a job as domestic helpers in Malaysia and left their home without the knowledge of their parents.
The girls’ mother sought police assistance after finding they had left home.
CGS Bongao coordinated with the Visayan Forum Foundation, an NGO that helps human trafficking victims and the Department of Social Welfare and Development for proper disposition.
