MANILA, Philippines - The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) advised yesterday Filipinos who have status problems in Saudi Arabia to legalize their stay to avoid punishment from Saudi authorities.
"As of the moment, there is no amnesty for foreign nationals illegally staying in Saudi Arabia. The Filipino community is advised to wait for official announcements from Saudi authorities and the Philippine embassy and consulate officials on the matter," the DFA said.

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippines is making some progress in the fight against human trafficking, but much more needs to be done, Philippine Ambassador to Poland Patricia Ann Paez said yesterday.
Paez said the Philippines is mainly a point of origin for human trafficking and other countries serve as transit or destination points for the people being trafficked.

MANILA, Philippines - An employee of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) who allegedly escorted a Taiwanese on the immigration blacklist has been relieved.
Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said yesterday Alden Yap Bait was reassigned to the BI main office in Intramuros, Manila.
