THE Bureau of Immigration is set to deport a Japanese fugitive wanted for illegally recruiting and trafficking Filipina nightclub entertainers to his country.
BI Commissioner Ricardo David, Jr. said immigration agents nabbed Teruaki Nasu, 61, in San Pedro City, Laguna on March 8.
Nasu is now detained at the BI jail in Bicutan, Taguig.
David said Nasu’s arrest stemmed from the request of the Japanese Embassy which informed the BI about his involvement in illegally recruiting Filipina entertainers to Japan.
The Japanese is facing charges for violating Japan’s immigration and refugee recognition law and for forging public documents.
BI acting intelligence chief Ma. Antonette Mangrobang said Nasu was accused of using a non-profit organization which he chaired as front in recruiting the Filipinas to work at a nightclubowned by Yoshimasa Matsuoka.
Nasu’s organization reportedly helps Japinoys to go to Japan and file lawsuits and claims for damages against their parents.
BI fugitive search unit head Armelo de Castro said the fugitive had been hiding in the country since he arrived in Manila on Nov. 27 last year.
