The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (IACAT) recently announced that it has set up a new social media site designed to provide public information and assistance, as well as monitor and address complaints.
Justice Undersecretary Jose Vicente Salazar, IACAT head, said the new public assistance site is designed to enable IACAT to extend its assistance and services to Filipinos both here and abroad.
"The IACAT Public Assistance Corner (I-PAC) provides a venue where the public can convey their concerns and complaints confidentially," Salazar said.
"This is in addition to the existing anti-human trafficking Hotline 1343 and official accounts in social networking sites," he explained.
"We hope that the I-PAC will be used extensively by the public to provide the government with information pertaining to human trafficking activities and parties colluding with human trafficking syndicates," he added.
"This approach creates a stronger partnership with the public in creating an expansive and formidable front in battling the evils of human trafficking," Salazar pointed out.
"We believe that this initiative will significantly help the government's bid to exercise full transparency especially in its effort to combat trafficking in persons," Salazar added.
The Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking Public Assistance Corner can be accessed through the official website of IACAT (www.iacat.net)
