MANILA, Philippines - A South Korean who ran a prostitution ring in Metro Manila catering exclusively to his compatriots will be deported by the Bureau of Immigration (BI).

Immigration Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said Park Jun Youn was arrested last week at his rented apartment along Debron St., Makati City, by a team from the bureau’s fugi¬tive search unit (FSU).

David said the 44-year-old Korean was arrested on the strength of deportation order issued by the BI Board of Commissioners for enticing Filipino women to work for his ring.

“He should be deported for taking advantage of the Filipino women whom he had exploited and lured to have sex with Korean men,” David said.

Antonette Mangrobang, BI acting intelligence chief, said Park was issued an arrest warrant by the
Cheongju district court in Korea last year after he was charged with violat¬ing Seoul’s anti-sexual trafficking and brokering law.

The charge alleged that between in 2007 and 2008 Park lured scores of Korean men to travel to Manila and have sex with Filipinas through his “escort service.”

Park allegedly charged each Ko¬rean P75,000.

It was gathered that the Korean managed to obtain a permanent visa in 2010 but the bureau canceled it upon learning that he was a wanted fugitive.

“A permanent visa does not confer a for¬eigner the absolute right to stay in the Philippines. It is only a privilege that can be withdrawn if the foreigner’s presence here is inimical to our national interest,” Mangrobang said.
